Relationship Coaching for Couples
Practical tools. Honest conversation. Change you can live.
I’m Gustav. I work with partners who want less looping conflict and more closeness they can actually feel. My approach is deeply human—and I draw from training in the Gottman Method and Internal Family Systems (IFS). It’s a unique intersection: clear structure for the way you talk and compassionate awareness for the inner pulls that show up in the moment.
Is this for us?
If any of these resonate:
- We love each other, but the same arguments repeat.
- One of us shuts down or escalates; repairs don’t stick.
- We feel more like roommates than partners; affection or intimacy is thin.
- We need practical tools and language, not pep‑talks.
What you can expect
- Repair that lands — how to de‑escalate, own impact, and rebuild trust.
- Fondness & admiration — small rituals that change the emotional climate.
- Conflict maps — telling solvable from perpetual problems so you stop fighting the unwinnable.
- Shared meaning — values, decisions, and rhythms that pull in the same direction.
- Intimacy that’s invited, not pressured — from performing connection to feeling it.
Two lenses, one aim
Gottman Method, briefly. A decades-tested framework for strong relationships: repair that lands, de-escalation during conflict, daily rituals that build fondness, and a clear way to tell solvable problems from perpetual ones. It gives us structure you can use the same day.
IFS, briefly. A compassionate way to notice the different “pulls” inside each of us (the protector who shuts down, the part that fights hard, the one that seeks comfort). Instead of blaming each other, we learn to spot these patterns and let your clearer, kinder leadership make the next choice.
Coaching, not therapy
If abuse, addiction, or acute crisis is present, coaching is not the right container. Should we spot this, I’ll help you find the right support.
How we’ll work
- Format: 75‑minute online video meetings (in‑person in Andalucía by request).
- Approach:
- Gottman gives us practical structure for conversations, repair, and daily rituals.
- IFS helps each partner notice inner pulls without blame so steadier choices are possible.
- Practice‑first: one or two tiny, repeatable actions between sessions—built to stick.
What makes this different
We combine research‑based relationship tools and moment‑to‑moment awareness. You’ll leave each session with one or two clear practices that fit your relationship—not a generic checklist.

A typical path
Clarity & Plan (3 sessions)
- Joint session — goals, strengths, stuck loops, and safety.
- Individual meetings (back‑to‑back halves) — hear each person clearly.
- Feedback & plan — we review patterns, share findings, and agree a simple written roadmap. You leave with clear next steps; DIY from here or continue with me.
Core series (6 sessions)
Conflict tools, repair, closeness rituals, and decision frameworks—paced to your capacity.
Integration
Short taper or monthly check‑ins so the gains become your new normal.

Ways to begin
- Brief fit call (20 min, complimentary) — low‑pressure; make sure it’s a match.
- Choose your entry:
- Clarity & Plan (3 sessions) — assessment + roadmap; you can DIY from here or continue together.
- Core series (6 sessions) — reserve a six-session arc to build momentum; brief clarity check-ins in sessions 1–2; we adjust to fit you.
- Focused intensive (half‑day) — one knot (conflict, drift, or decision). Preparatory work required (brief questionnaires + targeted pre‑reading).
Rates on request. Sliding scale is available, and a few reduced-fee slots are reserved when cost is the barrier (priority to under-represented couples).
Package pricing is available for 6+ sessions.
FAQs
Is this therapy? No—it’s coaching. If therapy is the better fit, I’ll say so and point you toward appropriate resources.
What if my partner is hesitant? Start with the fit call; we’ll lower the stakes and decide next steps together.
Will there be homework? Light, specific between‑session practices—designed to be doable.
Languages? English, Swedish.
Timezone / Location? Central European (Spain). Sessions online; limited in‑person availability in Andalucía.
Do we have to do Clarity & Plan before the Core series? No. Many couples start with the 3-session Clarity & Plan. Others commit to the 6-session Core series; we include a condensed assessment in sessions 1–2.
